Four community mental health centres opened in Moldova through the support of the Reform of Mental Health Services in Moldova project

December 7, 2015

Between September and December 2015, four community mental health centres were opened in the districts of Orhei, Cahul, Cimislia and Soroca in the Republic of Moldova.

This activity is a cornerstone of the Reform of Mental Health Services in Moldova project, which has developed a care pathway for mental health problems, placing community mental health centres at the centre of the pathway. Each community mental health centre is nested within the primary care department of the Ministry of Health and is staffed by a multidisciplinary mental health team consisting of the profiles of a nurse, social assistant, psychologist and psychiatrist. The teams have been trained through the Project since February 2015 by a team of international trainers specialised in the development and implementation of community-based mental health services.
