Monitoring system for mental health care for older people

Objective:
To obtain information on care and treatment needs and service utilisation relating to mental health issues in older people
Additional information:
  • Identification of trends in treatment and care needs and in service use (scale, nature and substitution in the demand for and use of various types of care: inpatient and outpatient mental health care, primary care, informal care, self-care and combinations), with particular focuses on the role of medicine use and on comorbidity
  • Monitoring the fit between trends in service use and trends in demand
  • Random assessment of the match between care needs, availability of services and quality of life
  • Monitoring the accessibility, efficiency, quality and consistency of care
  • Keeping track of the development, proliferation and effectiveness of best practices (including geriatric-informed psychotherapy, pharmacological treatment, interventions supported by informal care, and e-health interventions)
  • Monitoring of data on care and treatment effectiveness, differentiated on the basis of performance indicators such as changes in problem severity, match between care needs and care availability, quality of life, client-centredness and client satisfaction
