On 1 July the Trimbos Institute launched 'Staying Sober', a programme consisting of information and training on alcohol and drugs for adolescents and (young) adults with mild intellectual disability (MID).
The programme consists of a manual and a toolbox (the so-called Kickbox). These contain 'MID-proof' material for giving information on alcohol and drugs as well as guidelines for motivation training. The motivation training manual includes a set of cards showing the pros and cons of use and habits.
Since 2009, the Trimbos Institute, in collaboration with addiction care services and MID-care has developed interventions for alcohol and drug prevention in (young) people with mild intellectual disability. The programme Open & Alert for MID settings has been available since 1 May. Open & Alert consists of developing suitable alcohol and drug policy, promoting expertise among the employees involved and setting up a framework for long-term collaboration between MID-care and addiction care.
