The Trimbos Institute 2010 Annual Report appeared under the title of 'Continue with Self-management.'
Self-management is a topic to which more and more attention is being given; sometimes as a component of an ideology which places the responsibility for an illness with the patient; sometimes as a guise for cost-cutting policies: whatever a patient can do about their illness themselves, they pay for themselves.
The topic of self-management is explored in the 2010 Annual Report through 14 interviews with institute staff members and professionals from the field of health care and mental health care. What are the advantages of self-management and how can they given more visibility? What does self-management mean to people who can barely help themselves, or not at all? These interviews have resulted in a number of interesting viewpoints and a range of perspectives.
Beside the themed interviews, the annual report also provides information about new projects and collaborations started by the institute in 2010, projects and products for people with mild intellectual disabilities, in the area of mental capabilities, alcohol and drugs, e-mental health, suicide prevention and international developments.
